Life is fragile.

If you get the Tribune you probably saw this beautiful story on the front page of Saturday's paper.

http://www.sltrib.com/search/ci_4966119

It's sad, but it's a wonderful story of love and an amazing display of it's strength. These women are (and were) inspiring. Also it's a reminder to those of us in same-sex relationships to get as much legal protection as we can.

I am highly impressed that the Tribune had the guts to not only cover this, but on THE FRONT PAGE as well with a HUGE picture of the two of them showing affection towards each other.

Seriously I'm going to cry.

Also I'm going to donate to the ALS Foundation.

And renew my Tribune subscription.

Thank you.

Aleve Guardin

Last night I met some good friends at the Olive Garden. The wait was an hour but we didn't really care because that's what happens when you're with good friends.

We talked about our lives, our plans for the future and everything else under the sun. We laughed and joked around even long after the table had been cleared. Sometime during the evening it dawned on us that we hadn't seen each other for six months.

We all live in the same town.

How does that happen? I guess it just does because it's certain I'm not the only person to ask that question. People get busy, but some people manage to stay in touch for years and years without a problem. I want to stay in touch with them for years and years without a problem. I just do. They're good people. Good people who care about my well-being and I care about theirs. Those are the friends you grab onto and never let go. Even if they ask nicely.

We first met two years ago in an English class at the university with a less than enthusiastic professor (who was actually wonderful once you got to know him). After braving that and managing to find things to talk about after the semester ended that weren't simply flashbacks from class (which did take awhile but eventually we got the hang of it), I would say our friendship(s) are pretty solid. Relatively new but solid.

So...anyway...what was my point? Who knows. I just had a really nice night with them and hope to see them again soon and for a long time after.

Yeah. I think that was it.

Okay.

Bye.

Delishooz Sammich

Hey hey!

I'm finally getting caught up at work! Woohoo!!

Anyway...in honor of the fabulous sandwiches at New Seasons Market (and due to the fact I can't have one now), I made a REALLY good veggie sandwich that just has to be shared. It's easy to eat AND make! Combo bonus!!

So here's the crap.

PSEUDO-NEW SEASONS MARKET SAMMICH (sic)

2 slices heavy, whole grain wheat bread
Mustard (any kind you like)
4 slices cucumber
4 slices ROMA tomato (MUST BE ROMA)
4 slices mushroom
1 ring out of a slice of red onion (just a tiny bit)
2 slices provolone (or some other schmancy cheese)

Place the bread down on the counter. Spread mustard on each slice and cover with slices of cheese. On one slice of bread, place the 4 tomato slices, followed by the cucumbers, then the shrooms all on top of each other in a square pattern. Top with onion ring (not the fried kind silly). Take the other slice of bread and top off the sammich!

NOW THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. Cut the sandwich into 4 squares. CAN YOU SEE THE EASINESS OF EATING?! Since you stacked the veggies on top of each other in a square pattern it makes 4 little mini sandwiches that are easy to eat! Hot damn! If you don't do this it makes yet another sloppy floppy sandwich and NOBODY LIKES THAT.

NOBODY.

So you can have this great 'wich and the stuff won't fall out! SEE?! Go make one. NOW!! What are you waiting for?? I don't even have a picture of one BECAUSE I ATE IT TOO FAST. So go forth and make one!!

I had a lot coffee today.

Pleasant Portland Video!

It's here! It's here! The Portland video is finally here!

Pleasant Portland Pictures Part Two

Here are more pictures of Portland. The fun never stops.

(Insert song) Raaaandom buiiilding shoooooot...doo doo daah!

This was one of the sandwiches I had at New Seasons Market (my new favorite supermarket). Check out the deliciousness!! Check out the julienned cucumbers!! MMMMM.

Oregon Health and Science University has this aerial tram that goes from the parking area to the campus/hospital. So very cool. However, if I were on my way to a hardcore scary doctor's appointment would I want to ride a small hanging box over the freeway to get there? Hmm...might take your mind off the appointment though.

THE WATERFRONT! YEAH!!

Becka clearly wasn't as excited. Perhaps because it was FREEZING outside. Those pointy glass things are part of the convention center, by the way.

This is the Lloyd Center. It is a huge mall with an ice skating rink on the bottom level. Nobody fell down. I was disappointed.

That's it for now! Stay tuned and all that crap!

Pleasant Portland Pictures

Hello!

Wow. This week has been busy! Between enjoying time with Sally who came for a visit (HI SALLY!) and catching up with all the stuff I missed at work while on vacation, I haven't had time to pee!!

Speaking of that...please stand by...

Aaah. That's better.

I'm making a cool video but it's a long and aruduous process. Perhaps some training in how to actually MAKE those videos would be helpful, but who the hell has time for that? I'll just stumble along slowly, thank you very much. Until then, here are some pictures of my trip! Whooo!!

This quickly became my new favorite supermarket. Sorry about the window smudges. The only way to take a night shot was to balance the camera on the dashboard.

This quickly became Becka and my new favorite tea shop.

Down-tooooooown...

Hey Jeannie! Becka loves her presents. :-)

This is Portlandia. She likes to reach into the street after the sun goes down and scoop up little children to...I mean...she's nice.

Stay tuned! We're not even close to being done with this!!

Orygun!

HEY YOU GUYS!

I'm just taking a break from the vacationicities to let you know this is a great city. It's just as beautiful as I thought it would be, the people are more kind and friendly than you could ask, and the weather is more beautiful than people give the Northwest credit for.

Portland is incredible.

Becka has basically turned her car over to me (YOU ARE AWESOME AND VERY TRUSTING BECKA!) so I've been ALL over the place today. I even went to Washington just to say I had!

Here goes:

"I went to Washington."

THAT IS SO COOL.

Anyhow, you know how I am with cars and random driving. As far as I'm concerned this is the perfect vacation. It would be even more perfect if Becka didn't have to work but we must NOT ask too much from Lady Fortune! I am happy and that is good.

Yes I see the oddity in "driving" around the most walking/bike/public transport friendly city in the country, but it's 33F/1C outside today, baby. That's just not gonna happen.

Let's see what tomorrow brings!! I think we're going to the mall again! YAY!!

PDX=FUN

So tomorrow I am going to visit my friend in Portland, Oregon.

This should be incredibly fun. Mostly because SHE is an incredibly fun person so we're GUARANTEED to have incredible fun! Incredibly!

HOWEVER, I am a little nervous. There is a snow advisory for tomorrow. Everyone (by that I mean the three people I've mentioned it to) has told me not to worry but still...I worry.

This should be a blast anyhow.

HOT DAMN! I can't WAIT!

See you Monday evening...

That's IT.

Okay.

I am a writer.

I like to write.

Lately I have been fiddling around with a YouTube account and neglecting this place. While it is fun to make videos I have to say it's not what I normally DO.

It's not WRITING.

YouTube is a good idea. It provides an avenue for people who wish to express themselves but would prefer doing it with a medium of video.

THAT is NOT ME.

People joke around that nobody reads anymore. That video is the future.

I DON'T CARE.

If you don't read my posts in whole that's okay. It just means I can say whatever the hell I want knowing nobody will freak out if I do.

Huzzah!!

So...HI! Welcome back! I am glad to be focusing on this mess again and thank you for not giving up on me and this blog BECAUSE IT IS STILL HERE AND SO AM I.

Thank YOU!

-Pjamms :-)

P.S. I'm still posting pictures though. Also maybe a vacation video or two but that's ALL.
P.P.S. Really!! It is!!

New Music Tuesday!

Remember that song "C'est la vie" by Robbie Nevil? Well there's a telecom guy at work nicknamed Jay Jay. He came in to work on the phones and my coworker said "Oh hey Jay Jay."

That was all it took.

I've been singing that song ALL MORNING. I even WENT ON ITUNES and BOUGHT IT and am now screeching along with the chorus.

"C'EEEEEST LA VIE...c'est la vie...THAT'S JUST THE WAY IT'S GOOONNA BE (THAT'S RIGHT) OOOH YEEEAH!!"

Awesome. :-)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
